DIY Flyer Design for Effective Flyer Distribution Campaigns

Flyer distribution can be a very effective way to advertise your business or get an important message out there, but having a well designed and great looking flyer is crucial to ensure your business stands out from the crowd. Contrary to what many believe, it is possible to create an effective flyer yourself if you have access to a computer and some basic design software. This article will highlight some important factors in regards to designing your own flyer as well as offer some tips that will help you create an eye-catching flyer.

First off, you’re going to need something to design your flyer with. If you’re running a business, it’s highly likely that you’ll already have a program like Word or PowerPoint, but these are limited in what they offer in regards to design. That being said, if you put some thought into your planning and layout, you can still achieve some great results using these programs. However, if you want to have more control over your design, then a program like Photoshop may be worth investing in.

Programs like Photoshop can be expensive to purchase outright and were almost exclusively the domain of professional photographers and designers for a long time. However, these programs can now be used on a subscription basis, making them much more affordable for the average user. There are a number of books available that can teach you how to use Photoshop, and online tutorials can also be an invaluable tool. Once you’ve learned the basics, you’ll be ready to design your flyer.

Design Aspects

Have a Plan

Just as it’s important to plan your flyer distribution route, it’s also important to plan the content that will go on your flyer. Keep in mind that well-organized information is the key to a successful flyer. If you have information that’s well organized and laid out, people will be much more likely to take it in and possibly act on it.

Bullet Points

Bullet points are a great tool that should be used when it comes to flyer design, but be careful not to overuse them. When designing a flyer for flyer distribution, bullet points should be used to make your flyer easy to read and understand, but they should only list the most important points of your message.

If you can afford it, colour can make your flyer much more attractive and eye-catching. When using colour, however, be careful not to overdo it and use too many different ones. It’s a good idea to stick to a colour palette that reflects your business and existing branding.

Include All Relevant Information

This should go without saying, but to ensure you don’t forget anything, it’s recommended that you write down a list that details the who, what, where, when and why. Make sure that all contact details are included on the flyer and are easy to read. Finally, don’t forget to proofread! This is crucial, as a flyer riddled with spelling or grammatical errors can reflect badly on your business.
